Naval Weapons Station Yorktown Naval Surface Warfare Center

Systemcenter Project 29037

Laying the Groundwork

At the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in NWS Yorktown, maintaining operational readiness depends on fast, secure, and accurate access to critical materials and tools. The warehouse and back-of-house areas support a range of logistical and technical functions—housing equipment, supplies, and mission-critical components used to support fleet operations.

The facility required clearly defined storage zones to support efficient workflows, improve organization, and streamline daily operations. They needed rugged, high-capacity storage systems capable of withstanding industrial use, while also promoting a more structured environment for their team.

Designing for the Mission

To ensure project outcomes met both the daily needs and long-term goals of the NSWC Yorktown team, we conducted a comprehensive site survey to understand workflow and storage challenges. This revealed key priorities: creating clearer separation between work areas, improving equipment organization, and using durable products built for heavy use. Based on these insights, we designed a custom solution with Grainger that included: SpaceGuard BeastWire Secure Caging, Nucor Pallet Racking, Rousseau Cabinets, and Rousseau Mobile Workbenches.

The Result

The completed project enhanced the space by bringing greater clarity, structure, and efficiency to support daily operations. With thoughtfully defined zones and scalable, industrial-grade storage solutions, the Naval Surface Warfare Center now benefits from smoother inventory management, improved security, and a more organized workflow.
