A Boardroom Built for Anchorage’s Business Community

As an active member of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, Systemcenter was honored to support a space that plays an important role in shaping the region’s business landscape. When the President of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce reached out about refreshing their long-used boardroom, the need was clear. The existing furniture no longer supported the way their team, board members, and community partners use the space.

This boardroom serves far more than internal meetings. It is a community resource that local businesses rely on for trainings, workshops, strategy sessions, and events. To continue supporting Anchorage’s growing business community, the room needed a modern update and furnishings that could provide true flexibility.

Designing a Space for Ideas, Collaboration, and Community

Systemcenter partnered with the Anchorage Chamber team to reimagine how the boardroom could function. The goals were simple. Create a space that is easier to use, easier to reconfigure, and comfortable enough to support long days of focused work.

While the age of the previous furniture was unknown, the wear and tear was clear. The pieces were heavy, difficult to maneuver, and no longer aligned with the Chamber’s day-to-day needs. What should have been a dynamic, easy-to-reset space had instead become a barrier to productivity, making it challenging for the team and community users to reconfigure the room for different types of meetings and events. The Chamber also needed improved ergonomic seating to support their staff and the many businesses who rely on this space.

By focusing on durability, mobility, and comfort, the reimagined layout transforms the room into a place where new ideas are explored, leaders are trained, and conversations that move Anchorage forward can happen with ease.
