Systemcenter is the local distributor for Spacesaver. They are great. I ordered for the Hawaii State Art Museum and for ‘Iolani Palace when I was collections manager.

FAQ’s

How long does it take to get this installed?

For most industrial storage or security systems, lead times range from 8–14 weeks depending on manufacturer and configuration. We provide detailed schedules and track everything through to install.

Can I get a quote before I finalize the layout?

Yes, we often start with conceptual pricing. If you provide rough dimensions, counts, or equipment requirements, we can give you a ballpark estimate for planning.

Do you do site visits or field measurements?

Absolutely. We conduct field measurements and site validations early in the process to ensure accuracy and prevent delays.

Are these systems modular or fixed?

Most of our solutions are modular and scalable. Spacesaver, Rousseau, and Hänel systems can be reconfigured, expanded, or relocated as your needs evolve.

Can I integrate this with my existing racking or storage system?

Often, yes. We can review your existing setup and propose solutions that work in tandem—whether that’s adding a mobile system or automating select SKUs.

Are these systems modular or fixed?

Our in-house team handles everything from receiving to installation and punch list.

Are there vertical storage options?

Yes! We often recommend vertical storage solutions when floor space is limited or when ergonomic access to materials is important.

Spacesaver offers high-density mobile shelving that can maximize vertical height with customized shelving and mezzanine options.

Hänel provides automated vertical lift modules (Lean-Lift) and carousels (Rotomat), ideal for high ceilings and secure inventory control.

Vidir specializes in vertical storage for rolled materials like textiles, wire spools, tires, or signage, common in manufacturing and industrial settings.

We help select the right system based on the items being stored, access frequency, weight, and ceiling height.

Are separate subcontractors needed to install the mobile storage solutions?

Not always. For Spacesaver systems, our in-house, factory-trained installation team handles the full install, no third-party subcontractors are needed.

However, for Hänel systems, installation must be performed or overseen by Hänel-certified technicians. While we do have two certified installers based here in Hawaii, there are instances where we need to coordinate with Hänel’s mainland team to fly in a specialist, particularly for complex or larger installations.

How often do mobile systems need maintenance?

Manual or mechanical-assist Spacesaver systems typically require only annual or bi-annual inspections to check tracks, handles, and carriages.

Powered mobile systems (electrical or touchscreen-controlled) benefit from annual preventative maintenance to ensure motor and control system performance.

Hänel vertical lifts and carousels require routine service, usually one to two times per year, but it is based on usage. We also offer service agreements for clients that prefer a scheduled maintenance program.

What are the height constraints for the mobile systems and vertical carousel solutions?

Spacesaver shelving can typically go up to 16 feet high, but height is limited by a 4:1 height-to-depth ratio for stability and seismic compliance. For example, a system that is 2 feet deep should not exceed 8 feet in height without additional bracing or anchoring. We always evaluate ceiling height, load requirements, and site conditions before finalizing specs.

Hänel Lean-Lift systems are modular and can be built up to nearly 40 feet tall.

Vidir machines vary by application, but most units range between 10 to 25 feet tall.
During site evaluations, we confirm clear ceiling heights, sprinkler clearance, and building code requirements to determine feasible system height.

Are there any electrical requirements to be aware of prior to construction for these systems to be implemented?

Yes, powered systems (Spacesaver electric, Hänel Lean-Lift, Rotomat, and Vidir units) do require electrical planning:

Spacesaver powered systems typically require a dedicated 120V or 240V circuit, depending on the system size.

Hänel systems need 208V or 240V, 3-phase power and sometimes additional networking or fire suppression tie-ins depending on the setup.

Vidir systems vary but usually run on 120V or 240V depending on height and motor type.

We coordinate with the client’s facilities or GC early in the design process to ensure electrical planning is built into construction timelines.
